Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We've got answers! Find everything you need to know about HackFest 2025.

Who can participate in the hackathon?

The hackathon is open to students, professionals, and anyone passionate about technology. Teams can have 2-4 members, and individuals can also participate and find teammates during the event.

What should I bring to the hackathon?

Bring your laptop, chargers, any hardware you might need, and a positive attitude! We'll provide food, drinks, WiFi, and workspace. Don't forget a sleeping bag if you plan to stay overnight.

Are there any costs to participate?

No! The hackathon is completely free to participate. This includes meals, snacks, workspace, mentorship, and all workshops. We want to remove barriers to innovation.

What are the judging criteria?

Projects will be judged on innovation (30%), technical implementation (25%), design and user experience (20%), business viability (15%), and presentation (10%).

Can I work on an existing project?

No, all code must be written during the hackathon period. However, you can use existing libraries, frameworks, and APIs. The idea can be something you've thought about before.

What if I don't have a team?

No problem! We have team formation sessions on Friday evening. You can also register as an individual and we'll help match you with other participants looking for teammates.

Are there any prizes?

Yes! We have $50,000 in total prizes including cash awards, tech gadgets, internship opportunities, and startup funding. Every participant also receives swag and certificates.

Is there a theme for this hackathon?

This year's theme is 'Technology for Good' - we're looking for solutions that make a positive impact on society, environment, or human wellbeing.
